Any time I get into new Android project, I try to use the most common tools and UX guidelines, depending on the idea that using the common tools and guidelines will make my development faster.
While logically it is true, it seems that Android SDK still lack the needed flexibility, and even small changes from the standard UI, makes it almost useless to use the existing tools.
In the current situation, all I needed was to have an ActionBar, with a centered title. Sounds simple, isn't it ?
Quickly I found out it is not.
